About / Inspired by Hood Feminism
Good ideas still need to survive Tuesday.
The Basic Needs Feminist translates Hood Feminism into useful judgment for lives already containing work, care, bills, ambition, and several mysteriously urgent emails.
The originating tension
The movement says empowerment, but the calendar still says groceries, childcare, rent, safety, healthcare, and no time to fall apart. A feminism that skips food, housing, healthcare, safety, education, wages, and rest is leaving the actual agenda on the floor.
How we read
We keep the book's useful complexity, remove the worshipful fog, and ask what the idea changes in a real decision. Not every problem is a mindset problem. Constraints, power, health, money, and support remain stubbornly real.
The promise
Move basic needs from the margin to the center and decide what solidarity has to change in real life.
